Comments on Ludwig Wittgenstein ’ s Remarks on the Foundations of Mathematics 1 ( 1959 )

چکیده
The following comments are concerned with a book that is the second part of the posthumous publications of selected fragments from Wittgenstein in which he sets forth his later philosophy. The necessity of making a selection and the fragmentary character noticeable at points are not overly problematic, since in his publications Wittgenstein refrains from a systematic presentation anyway and expresses his thoughts in separate paragraphs—jumping Ludwig Wittgenstein, Remarks on the Foundations of Mathematics, G. H. von Wright, R. Rhees, G. E. M. Anscombe, eds., Basil Blackwell, Oxford, 1956 [first edition]. The book was originally published in German, with English translation attached. All pages and numbers quoted refer to the German text [of the first edition].

متن کاملWang and Wittgenstein
No account of Hao Wang’s philosophy can be complete without discussion of his serious engagement with Wittgenstein. This began in the period 1953-1958, immediately following the publication of Philosophical Investigations [1953] and Remarks on the Foundations of Mathematics [1956], and culminated in a second phase of engagement from 1981 to 1995. It closed in the final chapter, “Alternative phi...
متن کاملSome remarks on generalizations of classical prime submodules
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity and $M$ be a unitary $R$-module. Suppose that $phi:S(M)rightarrow S(M)cup lbraceemptysetrbrace$ be a function where $S(M)$ is the set of all submodules of $M$. A proper submodule $N$ of $M$ is called an $(n-1, n)$-$phi$-classical prime submodule, if whenever $r_{1},ldots,r_{n-1}in R$ and $min M$ with $r_{1}ldots r_{n-1}min Nsetminusphi(N)$, then $r_{1...
متن کاملSome remarks on Artemisia subgenus Serephidium (Asteraceae) mostly from Afghanistan
When worked out the treatment of Artemisia for Flora Iranica, in several cases no good, determinable material was available, especially from outside of Afghanistan, namely, Iran and the neighbouring Middle Asian regions. This was especially a problem for species of the homogamous group Serephidium. During the work on very rich new material of this group from Iran, collected by V. Mozaffarian (T...
متن کاملProbabilistic Complex Values
We present a probabilistic data model for complex values. More precisely, we introduce probabilistic complex value relations, which combine the concept of probabilistic relations with the idea of complex values in a uniform framework. We elaborate a model-theoretic definition of probabilistic combination strategies, which has a rigorous foundation on probability theory. We then define an algebr...
